Today I’m showing you two cards I made with Ecoline Brush Pens to welcome new borns. These markers are made for handlettering, but they can do so much more. So today I am showing you two backgrounds made with these markers.

With Ecoline Brush Pens you can handletter quit easily. But you can do so much more. Ecoline is known in the Netherlands for the little glass jars with watercolor ink, used at school when you were little. For little over a year now they have these markers, Brush Pens, with the same vibrant quality of their colours. On the cards today I’ve used the markers to make a background for the cards. And I find the outcome better than I had hoped. All the materials I’ve used are to be found at the and of this post.

To make the background I’ve used a plastic sheet and drew some ink on the sheet, in a random order. I used three different blue ones. Than I sprayed some water on the sheet. A few little bubbles of water and ink will form. Cautiously I turned the sheet and placed it on a cardstock panel. With my fingers I spread the inky water on the panel. When I’m satisfied I removed the sheet. With a paper towel a removed some of the ink, when to much water concentrated on one place on the panel. With a heattool I dried the panel. You can just leave it to dry by air. On both cards I placed a second layer of ink, after the first layer was completely dry.

You know the reaction that distress ink has with water, when the ink is dry. It reactivates the ink, so you can remove some of it. Which leaves you with lighter splashes. The same thing can be don to the ink of the Ecoline Brush pens, as you can see on the first card.

The sentiments of the cards are made with Black Onyx ink. Then I used Versamark and clear embossing powder. This is a great way to make every color in embossing powder. Use a colored stamp and than add some clear embossing powder.

To finish the cards I added some sequins and other stones.
